If it’s your first time receiving correspondence of this kind, you may not know what the notification means or what it entails. Don’t worry, as we’re here to shed light on what a recall is, how to find out if your Dodge or Wagoneer has one, what to do about it!

What Is a Recall?

Let’s lay the groundwork by highlighting the definition of a vehicle recall. In short, it’s a safety defect that is either uncovered by the manufacturer or the National Highway Traffic Administration. Once it’s identified, the car brand with the open recall will reach out to you via postal mail. If you want to take a more proactive approach for future problems related to your model, the NHTSA allows you to sign up for recall alerts through email as well. Certain issues are high in severity and should be addressed as soon as possible, while others are a bit more minor in scope. Either way, the repair that needs to be done is free of charge, as it’s up to the car maker to handle the cost of parts and labor.

How to Search for an Open Recall

Since some people purchase their used cars or may have relocated outside of Virginia recently, it’s possible that you may not be aware that your Ram model has a recall issued. Don’t fret, as the process of finding out requires little to no research. Rather, you can rely on the NHTSA website to determine whether you need to visit our Service Department for a manufacturer-covered repair. You can use three pieces of information to look up your particular vehicle’s recall history, which are its VIN, license plate number, and state it’s currently registered in. Alternatively, you’re also welcome to use our Ask A Tech form to learn of your car’s open recalls once one of our technicians gets back to you.

How to Schedule a Recall Repair

If you used either route that we highlighted above and established that you do need to visit us for a recall repair, it’s rather easy to book a service appointment with us. You can even do so while you’re waiting for your friends to meet you at the Virginia Area Historical Society, as we offer a mobile-device friendly website interface. It’ll ask you to provide your contact information so we can promptly reach back out to you about the repair. Underneath that portion is a comments section, where you will want to provide us with a brief description of the issue and that’s been dubbed a recall. If you’re more of a phone person, contact us while you’re parked at the United States Hockey Hall of Fame and book a time to visit our Service Department staff. Once our technicians are hard at work resolving the issue that the recall highlights, they'll use genuine Mopar® parts to replace any components if necessary!
